A lady identified as Adaku Ufere has become the first Nigerian and the youngest African to win the attorney of the year award in the 2017 edition of the African Legal Awards.
The Imo state-born lady broke the record of the prestigious award after she was announced as the winner of the attorney of the year award.
Ufere made history and Nigeria proud at the award which was held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Friday, September 8.
The African Legal Awards is carried out every year to recognise and honour exceptional achievements in the legal community of Africa. It was hosted by Legal Week and the Corporate Counsel Association of South Africa.

Looking at Ufere’s educational and occupational background, it is no surprise that the young lady achieved the history making award.
She is a graduate of law from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Ufere also graduated with a second class upper from the Nigerian Law School in Abuja.

The young lawyer also achieved her masters degree in law at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, where she specialized in Oil and Gas.
In 2016, she received an award as one of the 40 under-40 leading lawyers in Nigeria at the Nigerian Legal Awards.
