Chikezie Uzuegbunam is a Nigerian man who has made the nation incredibly proud for his most recent achievement when he got named as one of the brightest young minds in Africa.
Uzuegbunam turns out to be a doctoral student who is in his second year at the centre for film and media studies at University of Cape Town.
The recognition was made by Brightest Young Minds (BYM), an international leadership development organization which has its headquarter in South Africa.
Based on the initiative of the organization, the innovative and responsible young people in Africa are selected and connected. These young ones are being trained and empowered to take on the position of leadership in the fields suitable to them.

The Nigerian guy was selected based on his brilliant academic performance. The young man had an impressive resume that could not be tossed away. He would be joining the other awardees in Johannesburg for a powerful summit.
The other young people awarded are in the age group of 25 to 35; they were selected from across 17 countries. The summit is a well-funded one which would give the young ones the opportunity to share ideas on various fields.
To make the summit more interesting, guest speakers and facilitators would be joining the awardees to share practical examples and share life experiences with them.

Uzuegbunam expressed his excitement over being part of the awardees.
“This is a whole new, different and amazing experience for me as a young person on the continent. It is making me come up with better social innovation ideas that would impact society aside from the academic research that I have been engaged with, providing new ways of thinking about making impact with my work and passions.
I am grateful to have been selected and invited into this very competitive space and my gratitude goes to BYM for the opportunity. I feel ever more challenged and exposed to variety of new and never-heard-of-before resources to launch me into the next level as an impactful young leader on the continent”
