Sad! 22-year-old medical student killed on eve of her graduation in Somalia's deadliest attack

- Maryan Abdullahi was preparing for her graduation on Sunday

- It has been described as the single deadliest attack in Somalia's history

A 22-year-old medical student has sadly been killed on the even of her graduation.

Maryan Abdullahi was traveling in a car in Mogadishu with friends on Saturday, October 14 when a massive bomb exploded nearby, killing them instantly.

According to a Twitter user named @Abulaaibah1, Maryan was due to graduate the following day, Sunday, October 14.

Maryan's father was reportedly set to fly to the Somali capital his daughter's graduation, unfortunately, the occasion changed from one of happiness to sadness.

Amino Ahmed, Maryan's classmate, was reported as saying: “A sad day. Her family was so proud of her and were counting the hours before her graduation. The life of a rising star was sadly cut short.”

At least 276 people lost their lives in the explosion and 300 others were injured. Dozens others are still missing.

Somalia's government announced three days of national mourning following the attack, which has been described as the single deadliest in the country's history.
