El-Rufai orders security beef up as communities on the borders of Plateau and Kaduna clash

- The governor did this to prevent further clashes between community at the border of Kaduna and Plateau state

Governor Nasir El-Rufai has directed security beef up to put an end to the endless violent clash between communities along the border of Kaduna and Plateau state.

The governor, while reacting to the cross-border violence between communities in Bassa local government area in Plateau State and Kauru local government area in Kaduna, invited security agencies to put an end to the bloody clashes.

The governor, who spoke through his spokesperson, Samuel Aruwan, said the state emergency authorities have been mobilized to provide relief.

He said: “The governor of Kaduna state, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has received reports of communal clashes in the border area with Plateau State where lives and properties were lost in the clashes.

“The governor is saddened by this unfortunate incidence, and he has since condoled families of the victims and has directed that urgent security measures be taken around the border with Plateau State to secure lives and properties.

“The governor directed security agencies operating in Kaduna State to liaise with their counterparts in Plateau State and ensure that Kaduna state citizens are adequately protected, communities secured and that there be no escalation of the mayhem.

“The governor of Kaduna state, furthermore, directs security agencies to work hand in hand with their Plateau State counterparts to ensure that those that killed our citizens are arrested and brought to justice.”

NAIJ.com earlier reported that police in Plateau state have confirmed that gunmen suspected to be herdsmen killed five people in Dantako and Nzharuvo communities in Miango district of Bassa local government area of Plateau state.

ASP Terna Tyopev, the police public relations officer, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Jos on Friday, March 9.

According to him, the incident that occurred on the night of Thursday, March 8 left scores severely injured and many properties destroyed.
