- The police has confirmed that at least seventeen people were killed in Offa robbery
- Out of the 17, 8 were police officers, while four were in the police custody
- Seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the robbery
No less than seventeen people were killed in Offa, Kwara state, on Thursday, April 5, after a group of armed robbers stormed the town to rob five banks.
The robbers also attacked a local police station in the town, killing eight officers and four people in police custody.
Premium Times reports that the Kwara police commissioner Lawan Ado said five residents were shot and killed on the street of Offa by the robbers.

He said: “Twelve people were killed at the police station, eight of them were police officers. The remaining four were suspects in police custody."
Ado said the police intelligence team has arrived from Abuja to help with the investigation into the incident.
He said: “We arrested one person yesterday and six persons today in connection with the robbery,” he said. “We will stop at nothing to ensure that all the suspects are arrested.”
He added that the police has reovered seven get away vehicles used by the robbers t escape town after the robbery.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the president of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, has declared that he would support Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara state to ensure that all those who took part in the robbery attacks on banks in Offa on Thursday, April 5, are brought to justice.
Saraki, in a statement obtained by NAIJ.com, said that he spoke with the governor to express his condolence over the killing of some residents and police personnel by the robbers, numbering about 15, who attacked five banks.
