FG flags off N1.6 billion rebuilding projects in 3 Borno LGAs

- The federal government has announced the reconstruction project in three local government areas in Borno state

- The project flagged off by Victims Support Fund will gulp N1.6 billion

- According to VSF, the reconstruction will be executed by the Borno state government through the Borno state ministry of reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement

The Victims Support Fund has began a N1.6 billion reconstruction project in three different communities affected by Boko Haram attacks in Borno state.

The reconstruction project in the three communities - Gwoza, Mobba and Ngala local government areas - were flagged off by the VSF on Thursday, May 3, Premium Times reports.

The vice president of the VSF, Tijjani Tumsa, while handing over trucks of building materials to the Borno state government said the project is fully funded by VSF.

Tumsa who represented VSF chairman, Theophilus Danjuma, also said the reconstruction will be executed by the Borno state government through the Borno state ministry of reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement.

He said: “The VSF is optimistic that the reconstruction project in three LGAs will help to further restore governance institutions while restoring life to normalcy for the people.”

Receiving the donations, the Borno state governor Kashim Shettima who led a team of the state government officials thanked the federal government for supporting his state through the VSF.

Shettima said: "We thank our dear president, Muhammadu Buhari, for his unwavering support and love for the people of Borno which is demonstrated not only through the deployment of military that has degraded Boko Haram insurgents but also for the construction of our liberated communities through the VSF and PCNI under the able leadership of our respected elder statesman, General Theophilus Danjumma."

The governor also said the the state would ensure that the funds are effectively utililised for the reconstruction of the affected communities.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the presidency had condemned the Nigerian media over its reportage on terrorists attacks in the northeast region of Nigeria.

The spokesperson to the president, Garba Shehu, also condemned Muslim groups’ reactions to the Trump’s remarks.

Shehu said US president Donald Trump did not isolate killing of Christians in his comments but also mentioned killings of Muslims in the northeast.
