APC chieftain says Buhari’s aide, minister allegedly used political thugs to disrupt party's congress

- The re-elected chairman of APC in Enugu state Ben Nwoye has reacted to the just-concluded party's congress in the state

- Nwoye called for probing of Onyeama and Nwangwu for allegedly using political thugs to disrupt congress

- He said another group on June 2, gained entrance into the party’s office after breaking into the secretariat, which was under lock and keys, to hold their illegal meeting

The re-elected chairman of APC in Enugu state Ben Nwoye indicted the minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, and special assistant to President Buhari on justice reform Juliet Nwangwu over the just-concluded party's congress in the state.

Vanguard reports that Nwoye on Sunday, June 3, called for probing of Onyeama and Nwangwu for allegedly using political thugs to disrupt congress.

The state party chairman who made this known in the state also claimed that Onyeama also employed the services of the DSS personnel to supervise the alleged atrocities of the thugs, who allegedly invaded the venue of the state congress.

Nwoye, disclosed that apart from his personal effects, over 68 bags of rice belonging to women leaders, which were packed inside the secretariat, were allegedly stolen on Saturday by the leader of a faction of the party and his henchmen.

He maintained that another group had, “on June 2, gained entrance into the party’s office after breaking into the secretariat, which was under lock and keys, to hold their illegal meeting.”

He appealed to the senate leadership and director general of DSS to investigate the minister and Enugu command of his organisation, especially as his life was now under threat.

APC in the state held its congress on May 19 at the indoor sports hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, following the disruption of state congress earlier on May 18.

He, however, commended Enugu state police commissioner, Mohammed Danmallam, and commandant of the NSCDC over the professional manner they had been handling developments in the party in the state.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that thugs allegedly snatched the materials meant for the congress of the APC in the state.

According to a party source who chose to remain anonymous, the incident was masterminded by the zonal vice chairman of the party, Emma Eneukwu.

Many prominent members of the party are said to be worried over the incident as this may mar the outcome of the congress which is expected to hold later today, May 5.
