Odigie-Oyegun said this in Abuja on Sunday, June 3, in his response to allegations made against him by the governor.

Okorocha had alleged that attacks against him came from some APC stakeholders in Imo state because he opposed the tenure elongation for the party leadership moved by Oyegun.

Although Odigie-Oyegun remarked that he would not go into details about the issue, he said: “There is a united voice against the governor.”

Moreover, he wondered why Okorocha, who was not even the most vocal opponent of the “so called” tenure elongation, was the only one allegedly fished out for a witch-hunt.

Odigie-Oyegun further said: "Okorocha, wasn’t the strongest force behind the objection to tenure elongation so why is his case different? I don’t think it is necessary to go into the details.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com reported that Oyegun had withdrawn from the party's chairmanship race. NAIJ.com gathered that Oyegun on Friday, June 1, while speaking with journalists in Abuja said he would not seek re-election as national chairman of the ruling party.

Oyegun said: “I do not intend to be part of the problem for APC to solve. It is for this reason that I hereby declare that I will not be seeking reelection as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC.”
