The Enugu state government has announced the passing on of Uwakwe Abugu, the chief press secretary to the governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
A statement by the commissioner for information, Ogbuagu Anikwe, said Abugu passed away on Monday, June 4, in a hospital in India after a protracted illness, Premium Times reports.
“The state governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi today visited late Abugu’s Enugu residence to condole with the family,” the commissioner added.

Abugu was appointed chief press secretary in June 2015.
Before his appointment, he was the South-east bureau chief of New Telegraph newspaper.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that Senator Chukwuka Utazi said that should the Igbo be tasked to produce the nation’s president in 2023, the governor of Enugu state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, was best suited for the job in the entire southeast.

Utazi representing Enugu North senatorial zone ,who was speaking at a Civic Reception held in honour of the governor by Aku Community in Igbo-Etiti council area of the state on Saturday, May 5, noted that Ugwuanyi has demonstrated capacity and enough leadership prowess as the best performing governor in the entire southeast.
