Manchester United have reportedly agreed a deal with Ukrainian topflight side FC Shakhtar Donetsk over the signing of Brazil forward Fred.

The Red Devils beat their city rivals Manchester City to the signing of the 25-year-old midfielder in a deal valued at €59 million.

Having spent five years with the Miners, the midfielder boasts of 10 goals in over 100 matches for the Ukrainian Premier League champions.

Fred was also said to have attracted interests from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, but he has ended up signing for the Old Trafford outfit.

The 25-year-old former Atlético Mineiro, Porto Alegre and Internacional player is in Brazil’s squad for this summer’s FIFA World Cup finals in Russia.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that Brazil international Fred has arrived at Manchester United's Carrington training ground to undergo a medical.

The Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder is close to completing a £52m move from Ukrainian side to join Jose Mourinho's at Old Trafford.

Sources from Brazil confirmed last night that the midfielder was granted permission to leave the international camp after the 2-1 victory over Croatia to undergo the medical.
