A man, Adebisi Akinrinmola, who killed his ex-wife’s husband, Ashimiyu Ademola, is pleading for mercy for his life.
The 43-year-old man who is a cocoa farmer killed his ex-wife’s husband last week at Ajebo village, Ijebu-Igbo area of Ogun state.
Akinrinmola, who claimed his crime was the work of the devil, begged the authorities for mercy and asked that he should not be sentenced to death.

He explained to journalists that he was married to his ex-wife for nine years but their marriage produced no child.
He claimed he killed her husband because he chased him with cutlass. Akinrinmola said: “When we were quarreling, he squeezed my cloth at my neck and I managed to escape from him. He now started chasing me with a cutlass. I ran inside my house, took a gun and shot him. It is the work of the devil.
“The government should have mercy on me by not sentencing me to death, but send me to jail.”
