Miles, a UK citizen, and Hassan, a Kenyan Maasai warrior and dexterous dancer, met each other 11 years ago. They fell in love, and then grew in love.

The couple met when Juma went to visit Miles’ home town in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire during his UK tour as a traditional African dancer.

Miles says she was 16 when she fell in love with Juma the dancer, who allegedly grew up far away from his family back in Mombasa, Kenya.

“I moved around the country with him as he performed with his troupe. But when his time in Britain expired, he had to travel back to Kenya,” says Miles.

Trouble started when the two lovebirds defied their families’ wishes and went ahead to get married. They hurriedly got married in 2010, in desperate efforts to stay together, but that did not stop deportation of Juma back to Kenya.

To make matters worse, the couple could to apply for spousal visa until Miles was 21. This meant they had to spend their first year of marriage far apart.

However, they reunited when Juma secured a job at Blackpool Tower Circus as a dancer and immediately flew back to UK on a work visa.

“People said we will never make it. But look at us now? We are proof that true love conquers all,” says Miles, adding that anyone who ever doubted love in the first sight should learn from their story.

Juma and Miles have been blessed with a four year old son, Selim. They seem to be living happily and are even planning to renew their vows in Blackpool.

Also, Selim’s father has since found a new job at a kitchen porter. To him, his wife is everything and all he wants is to keep his family happy. It’s, however, not yet clear whether or not the parents finally accepted the union.
