A 33-year-old woman, Onyinye Maduka, has been arrested for allegedly burning her 12-year-old housemaid’s body with hot rice.
Maduka was charged to the Ikeja Chief Magistrates court in Lagos, this Thursday, March 2.

The accused is facing a two-count bordering on assault.
Prosecutor in charge of the case, Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offences were committed on Sunday, February 12, at the residence of the accused.

Maduka committed the offence after she accused her housekeeper of stealing.
Ogu said: “The accused poured boiling rice on the victim’s body and caused severe injury on her body.”
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offences.
The chief magistrate, Taiwo Akanni, admitted the accused to N50,000 bail with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to Wednesday, March 15, for mention.
