Two self-professed pastors have been nabbed by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly duping several people out of cash and goods to the tune of around GHC 300,000.

The two suspects are said to have been operating primarily around the Greater Accra Region, although the suspects were known to have operated in the Eastern Region too.

According to reports received by the Ghana Police Service, five of the complainants together were allegedly defrauded out of a sum total of GHC 298, 000.

According to the suspects' trends, the two suspects are said to have targeted traders primarily. The first victim, a trader in Tudu, is said to have handed over GHC 75,000, the the first victim's son gave away GHC 220,000, an Apple smart phone, a KIA Optima, and a Mercedes Benz C-Class.

Three other victims together are said to have parted with a sum total of GHC 13,000. One of the three victims paid to have her infertility reversed, while the others paid for prayers to avert accidents and death.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mrs Afia Tenge, the suspects - identified as Joseph Braimah, 22, and Derick Kweku Sakyi Baisie, 31 (alias Kweku Money) - were in possession of a list with 400 names on it. The list allegedly contained the names of the fake pastor's victims.

One of the suspects, Braimah, was swiftly arrested following initial complaints to the police. While the second suspect, Baisie, was arrested in the Eastern Region, at a shrine in Akyem Abirem.

Once arrested, police retrieved the KIA Optima. The perpetrators were unable to produce the money they fraudulently received, saying that they gave the lion's share to the fetish priest, Nana Boame, for protection.
