An Australian snake expert, Dan Rumsey, told local media that although pythons are non-venomous, they use their teeth to hold on to prey and can therefore eat their prey from almost any angle.
Rumsey added that pythons target bigger prey so that they don't have to hunt too often, and possums therefore fit the bill.
