The Blackfriars Priory School in Australia has been forced to cover up a newly raised sculpture that reportedly caused an uproar on social media.
It was gathered that the social media outrage started after some students from the only boys’ school shared the photos of the statue on social media.
According to MailOnline, the sculpture of Martin de Porres, the 12th century Spanish-born saint was raised and unveiled last week.

Many social media users interpreted the design of the saint handing out a loaf of bread to a little boy as something provocative.
They expressed that the teachers and other staff at the school should have noticed the provocative way the statue was designed.
The school was forced to cover the sculpture with a black cloth.
It was gathered that the school received a lot of embarrassment due to the uproar on social media over the erected statue.

Simon Cobiac, the school’s principal released a statement on Facebook addressing the issue.
The statement said: “The two-dimensional concept plans for the statue were viewed and approved by the executive team in May but upon arrival the three-dimensional statue was deemed by the executive to be potentially suggestive. As a consequence, the statue was immediately covered and a local sculptor has been commissioned to re-design it.
The school apologises for any concerns and publicity generated by this matter and is taking action to substantially alter the statue.”
