See how talented craftsmen turned plastic bottles into fishing boats (video)

- Kenya recently banned plastics

- But innovative locals are now using them to make vessels

After the Kenyan government banned plastics, a group of craftsmen from the coast came up with innovative ways of making use of the now forbidden materials.

The team collects plastic bottles dumped at the beaches of Lamu island and use them to build boats.

They believe recycling the plastics would not only leave the environment clean but also save the woodland.

Sam Ngaruiya, a conversationalist said: "We collect the waste, take out the non-usable stuff, process the plastics and use them to make boats. We are in the process of making our first largest ship, which will be 100 per cent made of plastic."
