A Nigerian lady recently took to the social media platform to express her displeasure at the way she is being treated in her career field.
Although Nigeria has evolved and the school of though that believes certain careers are not meant for ladies are now considered archaic, there are still people who hold strongly to this belief. Women still face unfair treatments that are perceived to be gender based.
Yet another lady has come out to share her experience. Identified as Dr Chioma, she recently took to social media to complain about how patients would rather see a 'real' doctor as she is most times assumed to be a nurse. While some believe this is due to her smallish statue, she insists it is because she is a female and most people are sexist and thus, they would rather be treated by a male doctor.
Clearly annoyed by this, she wrote on her Twitter: "Being a Female Doctor in Nigeria can be hard mehn. You will dress up in all your Full Doctors regalia with your male colleagues and Your patients will still call you Nurse. And when they realize they are wrong, they ask for the 'Main Doctor'. I just ask for the main patient."
