Fake it till you make it: 35-year-old Nigerian man arrested with over N8,976,000 fake cash in Johannesburg (photos)

- Police found R30,000 (N8,976,000) in fake cash in a Nigerian man's car

- He took them to his home where they found R300,000 in fake money

- He allegedly tried to bribe them with real money

Police in Johanneburg have arrested a 35-year-old Nigerian man for being in possession of over R300,000 (N8,976,000) in fake cash.

NAIJ.com learned that the unnamed man was first found with R30,000 in fake currency in his car along Heidelberg Road, east of Johannesburg.

Upon questioning, he led officers to his house in Elandspark, where they found the rest of the counterfeit money.

Speaking to Dailysun.co.za, Johannesburg Metro spokesman Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said:

"The cops also found machinery which the suspect apparently used to print the fake notes. Some had been cut while others were still on an A4 page, awaiting cutting and trimming."

"A printer, a pressing machine, inks, papers and off-cuts were also found in a smaller room that could only fit one single bed and just a handful of furniture items."

The counterfeit currency included South African Rands, US dollars and Nigerian Naira. Superintendent Minnaar added that the man had most likely been printing the notes for some time.

The man allegedly tried to bribe the officers with R3,000 in real money. A charge of bribery was added to others of money laundering and possession of counterfeit money.
