Earlier on, NAIJ.com reported the news of a 3-month-old baby who was kidnapped and later rescued by the police and returned to its happy and relieved mother.
Well for 17-year-old Bongeka Ngcobo, what appeared to be a moment of joy turned was shortlived as her little baby boy gave up the ghost few days after they were reunited. The 3-week-old boy was kidnapped when he was just a week old by a woman identified as Prisca Gabisile Mndawen.
According to reports, 40-year-old Prisca kidnapped the baby on December 18, 2017 on the corners of Boshoff and Langalibalele streets. Bongeka had reported to police that she had allowed the suspect to carry the baby while she entered a shop and bought fresh chips at the woman’s request. When Ngcobo turned around, the woman was gone along with baby Sikhanyiso.

The police immediately launched a vigorous search which yielded a happy result as the baby was found and returned to his mother while the kidnapper Prisca, was arrested and charged kidnap.

The police are currently investigating the death of the baby and a post-mortem is also taking place. According to police reports, the woman suspected of abducting the baby has only been charged with kidnapping as there is no evidence indicating that she was responsible for the death for now.
