It has just been reported that Pope Francis joined together two flight attendants in holy matrimony while traveling from Santiago in Chile to the northern city of Iquique.
39-year-old Paula Podest Ruiz and 41-year-old Carlos Ciuffardi Elorriga were recently joined together in matrimony at 36,000ft in a ceremony officiated by the Pope on Thursday, January 18.
The pair were reportedly working on board an aircraft taking the Pope from Santiago to Iquique during his three-day visit to Chile, when the magical moment happened.

Ruiz and Elorriga were married in a civil ceremony eight years ago and had been planning a religious ceremony at their parish church, near Santiago. But their plans were ruined when the church was destroyed in an 8.8 magnitude earthquake which also triggered a tsunami, killing 500 in total.
Pope Francis blessed the wedding rings the couple has worn since their civil ceremony. The couple, who met when Podest was working as Cuiffardi's boss, now live in Santiago with their two children.

The happy said: “We can't believe the Pope married us. A pope has never married anyone on a plane. We hope it will promote marriage. We have a Vatican document, it's all valid."
The chairman of Latin America (LATAM) was linked in as an official witness to the wedding while an accompanying Chilean cardinal drafted the legal document for the marriage by hand.
