The Nigerian Navy, NNS Delta, on Friday, April 5, handed over two vessels allegedly involved in illegal oil bunkering to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
A statement by the EFCC and obtained by NAIJ.com said the handing over was done in Warri, Delta state.
Speaking at the ceremony, Captain Adeyemi Adewuyi reportedly stated that the vessels, MV SIL Hausa and MV SIL Aisha, were intercepted by men of NNS Delta at the Aladja community jetty during a routine patrol.

The vessels are allegedly loaded with petroleum products.
While receiving the vessels on behalf of the commission, Richard Ogberagha, a senior detective superintendent, said the EFCC would do a painstaking investigation to ensure that the culprits were brought to book.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday, March 12, questioned the former governor of Borno state and ex-chairman of the Peoples Democratic Part (PDP) for hours over an undisclosed issue.

The EFCC’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that the ex-PDP chairman was in its office earlier in the day to honour an invitation sent to him.
