The anti-smuggling unit of the Nigeria Customs Service, FOU, Zone A, on Wednesday, May 16, said it had impounded 30 exotic vehicles, nine trailers and other with DPV of over N1.01 billion between Tuesday, April 10 and Tuesday, May 15.
Customs Area Controller of the unit, Garba Uba Mohammed who made this known in Lagos while briefing journalists, also said N28.9 million was recovered from under payment by importers who cleared their goods from the ports.
Mohammed listed the items impounded to include seven Toyota Hilux (2018 models), three Toyota Prado Jeep (2017) one Range Rover, one Ford Edge (2015), amongst others.
He said 5,516 bags of foreign parboiled rice (equivalent of nine trailers), 1,078 cartons of frozen poultry products, 216 jerry cans of vegetable oil, 683 pieces of used tyres and eight sacks of Indian Hemp were also seized.

Just recently, a large quantity of Tramadol tablets allegedly smuggled from India was intercepted by the Tincan Island command of the NCS.
The shipment in containers was said to be intercepted by customs officers after a failed attempt to smuggle them out of the seaport.
