- Avram Grant has been shortlisted as a possible replacement for Antonio Conte this summer

- The Israeli tactician managed Chelsea on a short term deal after Jose Mourinho left in 2008

- Other coaches considering for the Blues' head coach job are Maurizio Sarri and Laurent Blanc

Chelsea are reportedly planning to rehire Avram Grant as their next head coach this summer according to Daily Star.

The Blues are in a dilemma of finding a replacement for their present coach Antonio Conte, whose future at the club in unclear at the moment.

Though he won the FA Cup for the Stamford Bridge side mid last month after beating Manchester United 1-0 at the Wembley Stadium, it is unclear if he will go or stay.

However, reports coming out of the clubs claims the owner of the club would rather have his Italian coach replaced having finished fifth on the Premier League table and missing out in qualifying for the Champions League.

The west London club had initially targeted former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri, but that interest seem to have gone down as a result of extreme fiscally-conservative methods.

Sarri left his position as the head coach of the Stadio Olimpico Stadium, and immediately, Carlo Ancelotti has succeeded him but are yet to terminate Sarri’s contract - meaning they have two head coaches according to Daily Star.

However, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is set to be slowing down on his investment on the club as his expired UK visa is yet to be renewed.

The Russian billionaire personally took the decision to halt his plans to build a new Stamford Bridge due to his work permit that has not been renewed.

Meanwhile, having taken up citizenship in Israel, Grant has suddenly become a favourite to return to the Bridge as the head coach.

The Israeli coach infamously took over as a nobody after Jose Mourinho was sacked during his first stint at the Blues.

Grant led Chelsea to second place finish in the Premier League and the Champions League against Manchester United in 2008 after taking over from Jose Mourinho in his first reign at the club.

However, former Paris St-Germain manager Laurent Blanc is also said to be shortlisted for the job after interest on Sarri has been toned down.

Blanc has not managed since being sacked by the French giants two years ago.

But nothing will proceed at the Stamford Bridge outfit until Marina Granovskaia, a key member of Abramovich's board, returns from holiday next week.

NAIJ.com previously reported that Chelsea FC were planning to sign former Paris Saint Germain manager Laurent Blanc ahead of Maurizio Sarri as Antonio Conte’s replacement.

The former Napoli boss was leading the race to land the Blues job as soon as the head coach job is vacant, but new development at the Stamford Bridge reveals the former Napoli boss may not be the favourites any longer owing to the his controversial past.

According to the Sun, the 59-year-old clashed against the new Italy manager Roberto Mancini while he was at Inter during a Coppa Italia tie last season.
