A non-governmental organization, Friends in need empowerment initiative, has urged children across the country to pursue the career they love most in spite of the financial status of their parents.
NAIJ.com reports that this was made known recently during a capacity building for the school children held in Isheri area of Lagos state.

While delivering his speech, the guest speaker, Mayowa Ajibodu, described unemployment as a disease that affects individuals without right information.
He said that children should pursue their goals without being discouraged by their parents or guardians, adding that they can only be happy if they are allowed to pursue their area of callings.
“You should ensure that you pursue the career of your choice, you should not be discouraged by your parents because you can only be happy if you pursue your area of calling. You must identify who you are: Whether to make impact or money.
“You must know who you are. You must be focused. This means that focus is different from seeing. It is to see what you believe. Focus is the key to achieving greatness in life. You must see what others do not see and believe it.
“God is the giver of destiny and you should believe that your destiny is not in the hand of anybody except God. You must realise who you are and pursue your goal religiously. You have capacity to become whatever you want to become in life.
"It is not about certificate but about you because whatever you pay your attention to has your interest. The only way you can become the richest person on earth if you continue to follow what you believe in.
One of the participants, Esther Oparasi, said that her parents wanted her to study while she is in love with music, asking whether there is connection between medicine and singing.
In his response, Ajibodu, said that though the parents are right in their opinions, they should not kill their children’s passion to become great in life.
He said that although a Nollywood artist, Funke Akindele, read law in the university, the profession did not stop her to become one of the leading artists in Nigeria.
He said: “One of the tips to achieving greatness in life is obedience. You must be obedient to your parents and you will end up achieving your goals. You must turn your fear to success. I want to promise that I will link Esther with one of the greatest singer in Nigeria – Niniola. I also promise to connect Destiny Jikome with one of the greatest graphics artists in Nigeria for his love for art and design.”
