China to start producing Aba-made shoes in Nigeria (photos)

- Some Chinese would be entering the Aba shoe and garment production process

- This according to the Abia state governor would lead to a healthy competition among producers

The Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has spoken about the entry of the Chinese into Aba shoe andgarment production process. This move according to him would lead to the beginning of healthy competition among producers.

According to NAN, Ikpeazu made this known while showing Zhang Huarong, the chairman of Huajian shoe factory in China, some spots where the factory would be sited around Aba axis.

The coming of Zhang Huarong and his team will boost the Aba leather and garment industry. We welcome them with our hearts to come and invest in Aba.

“We also encourage our people to see their coming as a healthy competition. I have no doubt that our people in Aba will take advantage of their coming and competition it will provide to improve on what we are already doing.

“Our target is to conquer the African leather and garment market. I am happy that the Chinese investors are responding to our request for them to come and invest in our state and make their products in Aba,” he said.

A Chinese-owned steel factory known as Inner Galaxy was also shown to the team by the governor in order to impress the new team. The factory already operates in Ukwa west local government area of the state.

According to him, the venue was chosen to show the Chinese team what some of their counterparts are already up to in the state. The investors were also made to understand the employment opportunities the people of the state had gotten through them.

Zhang Huarong said the team visited the state because they wanted to know how ready the state is with the 1.5 billion dollars investment. He also said the visit would help seal the deal which started when the governor visited his shoe factory in China in the third week of April.

He expressed the readiness of his company to partner Abia to deliver the project quickly. The Chinese described Abia as a beautiful and calm environment where business could thrive, adding that China had enjoyed a robust relationship with Nigeria.

China has enjoyed a robust relationship with Nigeria and having a factory in Abia would build on the relationship as well as help accelerate the industrialisation drive of the Governor,” he said.
