- Many on social media have said he should consider retiring
Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe was caught napping at the just concluded World Economic Forum for Africa held in Durban, South Africa.
Pictures showed the 93-year-old President clearly asleep in his chair alongside other dignitaries as proceedings got underway on Thursday, May 4.
The images have gone viral online and have drawn much amusement and calls for him to consider retiring.
Mugabe appeared tired during the continental event, and even when he was making his remarks or engaging in discussions, he spoke slowly in apparent fatigue.
When asked about the state of Zimbabwe's economy, he said: "We are not a poor country. If anyone wants to call us fragile, they can. You can also call America fragile."
However, it was his sleeping that caught the attention of many on social media. See some reactions on Twitter below.
