A Colombian woman, 30, is lucky to be alive after a team of surgeons managed to remove a whopping N2.2m (US$ 7000) from her stomach.

The surgeons removed some of the money from her intestine and the rest were passed through her colon. She allegedly ate up the cash in attempts to hide it during a fight with her husband.

“I had saved up the money for a holiday with my husband after having sold several electrical household items,” she told a local TV station.

According to the medics at the University Hospital of Santander, the lady had swallowed rolls of hundred dollars.

“We were able to surgically extract 57 US$100 bills from the woman's stomach and intestines. The majority of the bills were extracted through a gastronomy through the stomach,” says Dr Juan Paulo Serrano.

The lady is said to be currently recovering after her scary ordeal. It is, however, not yet clear why the couple that wanted to go on a holiday together was now fighting each other.
