Ekiti polls: Fayose hypes deputy; says his victory would be the easiest in political history

- Governor Ayodele Fayose has drummed up support for his deputy, Prof Kolapo Olusola, ahead of the state's upcoming gubernatorial election

- Fayose said Olusola would have the easiest victory in Nigeria’s political victory as his administration had performed very well

- He assured Olusola that the people of the state would throw their weight behind him on the day of the election

The Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose, has stated that his deputy, Prof Kolapo Olusola, would have a very easy victory in the July 14 gubernatorial election as a result of his administration's performance, Vanguard reports.

The governor made the comments during an interaction with stakeholders in the state’s education sector in Ado-Ekiti.

NAIJ.com gathers that Fayose stated that his administration had achieved a lot in the education sector as a result of the collaboration with critical stakeholders; and gave the assurance that his deputy would not deviate from the laid-down path.

He stated: “Olusola’s victory will be easiest in the country’s political history because I have not deviated from the ideals people considered to bring me in 2014.

“Ekiti was ranked 35th in NECO when I came in 2014 but I have been able to bring the result to the first position in 2016 and 2017 through series of motivations for teachers.''

Speaking directly to Olusola, Fayose then stated: “But let me say this, your victory is not in the hands of politicians, I have even told those around me. It is in the hands of Ekiti people, I mean the electorate.

“Ekiti people are very resolute people. If they say they don’t want you, that is the end. If they like you, you will see it. If they hate you, they won’t hide it; so you can see that they like me with the way they have been relating to this government.

“You will see how they will help you on the day of the election. You will see how they will vote and stand by their votes.’’

Fayose, speaking after a reconciliation meeting with the David Mark-led committee on the Ekiti crisis said he insists on his preference and support for Olusola. The governor said nothing would make him change his mind on his support for his deputy to run for governorship in Ekiti state.

He stated: “I have pitched my tent with Prof. Olusola and I stand with him, today and tomorrow. We are going to give everybody the right of primary."
