Bombing of Nwodo's home will not stop us from campaigning for restructuring - Ohanaeze Ndigbo

- The attack on the residence of the president general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, John Nnia Nwodo has been condemned

- According to the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, it would not derail its demand for the restructuring of the country

- The group also said no amount of intimidation and callous display of terrorism will make it give up its fight for Igbos to get a fair share in the Nigerian project

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has condemned the bomb attack on the country home of its president, Chief Nnia Nwodo, saying it would not stop its clamour for the restructuring of the country.

The apex socio-political body of the Igbos, on Monday, April 30, said the incident would only reinvigorate its insistence on the restructuring agenda, The Punch reports.

In a statement by it deputy national publicity secretary, Chuks Ibegbu, the group said it would not rest until Ndigbo get their fair deal in the Nigerian project.

The statement read: “The bombing of the home of the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Nnia Nwodo, by the enemies of progress will not in any way deter Ohanaeze Ndigbo from the pursuit of the restructuring of Nigeria.

“The incident will rather reinvigorate the President-General and the entire National Executive Council of the apex Igbo body to redouble their efforts and sync with other progressives in other parts of the country to achieve the goal of restructuring Nigeria and ensuring justice, equity and fair play in our country.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo would not relent in its effort to ensure that Ndigbo get their fair deal in the Nigerian project and no amount of intimidation and callous display of terrorism will make it shirk its divine responsibility.”

NAIJ.com reported earlier that the residence of Nwodo at Ukehe, in Igboetiti local government area of Enugu state, was on Sunday attacked with an improvised explosive device, which destroyed parts of the building.

Meanwhile, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has placed a curse of those who attacked the residence of its president general, John Nnia-Nwodo. The socio-cultural Igbo group describing the attack as irresponsible, said the perpetrators will soon be caught and made to face the law.

Reacting to the attack in a statement, the national publicity secretary of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Uche Achi-Okpaga, said the attackers must not go unpunished.
