Fayemi visits 15 defeated governorship aspirants in Ekiti as he receives confidence vote from Buhari

- Kayode Fayemi plans to appoint the defeated aspirants of the APC into the candidate's advisory council

- Fayemi stresses this as he visits the defeated contestants in the primary election in Ekiti

- Those visited include former governor of Ekiti, Segun Oni

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kayode Fayemi, has kick-started reconciliatory move with his co-contestants barely 24 hours after he emerged the party’s flag bearer for the July 14 governorship election.

Fayemi, a current solid minerals development minister, who was on Saturday, May 12, declared winner of the APC primary having polled a total 941 votes, visited no fewer than 15 of the aspirants in their respective homes on Sunday.

NAIJ.com learnt that the former governor of Ekiti, who was accompanied by APC Ekiti state chairman, Chief Jide Awe, and some chieftains of the party, visited Engr Segun Oni at his Ifaki-Ekiti country home early in the morning of Sunday, May 13.

Thereafter, he visited Rt Hon Femi Bamisile, another aspirant and former speaker of the state House of Assembly at his Ado-Ekiti residence. Fayemi also visited Kola Alabi and Wole Oluyede at their respective residences in Ikere-Ekiti.

The minister also visited Senator Gbanga Aluko at his Ode-Ekiti country home.

Other aspirants visited by Fayemi in their respective homes include: Muyiwa Olumilua; Kayode Ojo; Hon Bamidele Faparusi; Adebayo Oriire; Oluwole Oluleye; Diran Adesua, Victor Kolade, Coker Olumuyiwa and Sesan Fatoba.

Fayemi described his discussion with his co-contestants as ‘frank and useful’, even as he expressed optimism that the party would go into the July 14 poll as a united entity.

The APC standard bearer, had a few hours after his declaration as winner of the governorship primary, told his supporters of the need to maintain cordial relationship with other co-contestants and their supporters.

He had also hinted on plans to constitute a body of all co-contestants into the candidate’s advisory council.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday, May 13, congratulated the solid minerals development minister and former governor of Ekiti, Kayode Fayemi, for emerging the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming election in the state.

Buhari said he had trust in Fayemi’s capacity and capability to fly the party’s flag and win the election which has been scheduled for July 14.
