The director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure, has ruled out negligence on the part of camp officials following the death a female corps member, Hilda Amadi Eva with registration number KW/18A/0135) at the Kwara state orientation Camp.
The Tribune reports that the DG in a statement issued by the NYSC management in Abuja on Monday, April 30, dismissed reports that the late Amadi died as a result of negligence on the part of the camp officials.

When expressing sadness over the death corps member who died at the General Hospital in Ilorin where she was referred to by the medical consultant at the camp clinic, Kazaure said he said NYSC management would not undermine the welfare and security of any corps member.
He said: “I am here to console you while l pray that God gives our departed sister eternal rest,” Kazaure said."
He urged state governments to ensure that they perform their statutory responsibilities with regards to the provision and maintenance of orientation camps across the county.
Kazaure called on corps members to be security conscious at all times and avoid night parties which might expose them to danger and advised them to acquire relevant skills in order to empower themselves for job creation and not being victims of unemployment.
Meanwhile, the NYSC has denied reports by a certain national daily, that it introduced Sharia practices in the administration of the FCT orientation camp, Vanguard reports.

According to the aforementioned report, Sharia practice had been introduced in the camp by the newly-appointed FCT coordinator, Mallam Bello Balama.
The publication reportedly claimed that Balama introduced the practice because he said "it is sinful for him as Muslim to head a camp where alcohol is sold."
NAIJ.com learnt that in a statement issued by its national spokesman, Aderemi Adenike, the NYSC pointed out that it runs a prototype policy in all its orientation camps across the country, and insisted that the report was false.
