France international Samuel Umtiti has penned a new five year deal with his Spanish League side Barcelona this summer according to Eurosport.
The central defender, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford will now remain at the Camp Nou until 2023, but this time with an improved deal.
Umtiti joined the Catalans from French League side Lyon in 2016 in a deal worth €25 million, and having performed excellently well for the club in his first two years, he told the club to increase his pay or allow him join another club.

He initially signed a five year contract which included a €50 million release clause, and the two Manchester clubs were said to be ready to trigger the clause.
The Frenchman has however ended the Red Devils of luring him away from the La Liga side, after penning a new deal, and this time, the club didn’t reveal how much his release clause is in the press release from Barcelona.
Meanwhile, they are expected to discuss the issue extensively in a press conference scheduled for Monday, June 4.

Umtiti is currently with the France squad ahead of the World Cup and scored the opening goal in Friday's 3-1 friendly victory over Italy.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that Barcelona directors told star defender Samuel Umtiti that he is free to leave the club at the end of the ongoing La Liga season if he wants to.
The Frenchman has been impressive this season for Barcelona helping the Catalan giants to win the 2017/18 Spanish La Liga title.
