The lawmaker representing Bayelsa East in the Senate, Murray-Bruce, has drawn the ire of Nigerians on Twitter, shortly after condemning the making of the Super Eagles 2018 World Cup kit in Asia.
Murray-Bruce took to Twitter to condemn the making of the kit abroad instead of being made in Aba, Nigeria.
NAIJ.com notes that the lawmaker twitted: "It is a win/win situation. If we persuaded @Nike to manufacture our team’s jerseys in Aba instead of Asia, we would all have benefited. Nike would make money from marketing, the Nigerian economy makes money from products made in Aba and our youths get jobs even if temporary.
"I bought made in Nigeria @innosonvehicles and made in Aba clothes because I believe in Nigeria. That’s why I started #BuyNaijaToGrowTheNaira campaign. We can’t grow our economy from abroad. We can only grow if we patronise our own goods. @NGSuperEagles could’ve been made in Aba."

Nigerians on Twitter, however, took their time to explain to the lawmakers why the jerseys were abroad.

According to a poll carried out by.Sky Sports, the kit was voted the best out of the 32 teams that will participate in the World Cup tournament. In the poll, the shirt had over 40,000 votes, to emerge number one.
Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) stated that the kit received more than three million pre-orders.
