When Nico Morales, 19, met Latoya Jolly, 23, on a dating website in December 2015, they probably never knew how far and where they were going with each other. But one thing was for sure, they fell in love on the first day.

It all started with Morales dropping a text message in Jolly's inbox, hoping that she was going to respond. And yes, Jolly responded, politely so. Then a date was quickly arranged where the two had the opportunity to meet face-to-face and peruse through each other's profile.

Prior to their meeting, Morales and Jolly struggled with relationship issues. The two reportedly have Asperger's syndrome, which is a form of autism that makes it difficult for people to develop and understand relationships and even interact with other people in social settings. This is partly the reason why their relationship is a unique and special one and they know it.

The relationship is unique in the sense that the two lovebirds are seemingly more comfortable around each other than any other person they have ever interacted with in their lives.

Morales said: "When I met Latoya, my instinct was that she was the most beautiful woman on earth.I have never seen such beauty in my life. She looks so amazing. Her glasses were reflecting the moonlight like a disco ball, and she had the prettiest smile."

Jolly on her side says she had never kissed anyone on the lips until she met Morales.

She said: "I have received and given kisses on the cheeks but I have never really had a kiss on the lips. Only Morales do that to me."

Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) show that one in every 68 children in the United States has some form of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Experts say those suffering from autism tend to get fixated in a particular hobby. They also generally struggle with social and communication activities. However, when two individuals with autism are in a relationship, they can connect well with each other.

Paige Siper, chief psychologist at Seaver Autism Centre for Research and Treatment said: "Person with autism can relate well to one another when in love. They do this by connecting on that common ground."
