The best student in the just released Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam results is a girl.
Goldalyn Kadiya of St. Anns Junior School Lubao in Kakamega county emerged the best student with 455 marks out of a possible 500.
Kadiya lives with albinism. Her parents, friends and relatives joined in celebrations when they learnt of her excellent performance in the exams conducted during heightened political temperatures.

Kadiya will be among the students who will be placed in national schools as revealed by Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Education, Fred Matiangi. 9,000 students scored 400 marks.
The results were released just three weeks after students sat for the exams.

According to the CS, the candidates who passed their exams will be placed in different secondary schools by December 12.
It was also gathered that candidates from public schools in the top 100 category will receive direct support from the government.

Six candidates among the top 100 in the country are from special needs sector. Candidates who scored below 100 marks reduced to 2360 students from over 5000 who score last year.
