A Nigerian man has reportedly abandoned his wife and three sickled celled children at a hospital in Gbagada, Lagos state. It was reported that the man had lied to his wife about his genotype when they got married.
The unidentified man who is AS had deceived his wife who is also AS into thinking his genotype is AA. He has reportedly left his wife to deal with the children who are sick at the moment and are on admission at the hospital.
NAIJ.com came across the sad story after it was shared by Twitter user Juicy J. According to Juicy J, the three children are always sick.

She wrote: "This man lied to his wife who’s AS (& barely educated) that he was AA when he’s really AS. Now their 3 kids are SS & the man is nowhere to be found, leaving the mother to take care of the three kids with sickle cell anaemia. They’re always in the hospital, it’s so sad."
Some Nigerians on Twitter advised the mother of the three children to call the attention of sickle cell non-governmental organisations in Nigeria in other to get help for her kids. Others also advised women to always take precautions when getting married.
Sickle cell disease is a group of inherited disorders that causes the red blood cells to contort and form a sickle shape.

The red blood cells die early because of its shape and leaves the body with a shortage of healthy red blood cells. This disorder can cause block to the flow of blood which causes pain called the sickle cell crisis.
