The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reportedly taken over Enugu state Government House to prevent members of Biafra Zionists Federation (BZF) from taking over.
The BZF, led by Benjamin Onwuka, allegedly attempted to declare an independent Biafra and forcefully take over government House.
The pro-Biafra group numbering over fifty had converged at the House as early as 7.30am on Wednesday, May 30, but were stopped at the gate by police men, Guardian reports.

The defunct IPOB had urged Igbos to observe the May 30 sit-at-home directive for the remembrance of the defunct Biafra. It had claimed that the day represents an enduring epitaph that recalls many great feats, struggles and tribulations.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that Governor David Umahi said Traders in Ebonyi who observe the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) on May 30 will permanently forfeit their shops.
Umahi, who made the declaration in Abakaliki while addressing the people at the 2018 democracy day celebration, noted that such order would not be observed in the state.
He said that the state was terribly marginalised during its days in the old Anambra, Enugu and Abia and was now making efforts to “find its feet”.
