- The Blues are reportedly ready to splash £96m on Inter Milan star Mauro Icardi if former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri takes over at Stamford Bridge
- Icardi has scored 53 goals in his last two Serie A seasons
- But Argentina coach Sampaoli overlooked the forward for the La Albiceleste Russia 2018 campaign
Mauro Icardi will reportedly be Chelsea first transfer target this summer if the Premier League side secures the services of former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri as Antonio Conte’s replacement.
The 25-year-old Inter Milan forward who currently has a release clause of £96 million to play outside Serie A, has netted 53 goals in the last two seasons in the Italian topflight.
According to a UK Sun report quoting sources at Italy’s Corriere dello Sport, the Premier League campaigners stand a good chance to get the prized Argentinean forward if they meet the £7m release clause required to bring in Napoli coach to Stamford Bridge.

The report further added that Sarri, will then set in motion a transfer move for his favourite forward.
Interestingly, during the last day of Serie A hostilities, Icardi took his goals haul to 29 after hitting the bulls’ eye to hand Inter Milan a return to the Uefa Champions League.
However, despite his goals run in Italy, Icardi was overlooked by Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli for the forthcoming 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia.

Thankfully, that will keep the forward refreshed for the hostilities in the English topflight if he eventually completes the switch to Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that Chelsea and Manchester United are eyeing Barca's Jordi Alba who is reportedly linked with a move away from Camp Nou.
The 29-year-old Spanish left-back, who has two years left on his current Barca deal, is now wanted by Premier League rivals.
However, his agent revealed that Alba has been standing by for over a year and a half to be offered fresh terms by Barca eggheads.
